AND WHAT MAKES HIM KNOW ABOUT THIS STUFF?

hire me to present hair events

Currently celebrating over 30+ years in hairdressing, I’m the owner of Dominic Lehane Salon, and founder of leading online community and live events platform for hairdressers, HairClubLive. And as a fourth generation hairdresser it would be fair to say that hairdressing runs through my veins, but it hasn’t always been plain sailing…

Fresh out of school as a 16 year old lad in June 1986, I headed off to London’s Covent Garden to begin working as a trainee hairdresser at the world famous Trevor Sorbie Salon. Fast track forward 6 months later and I’m back home working in my mums small local hairdressers on the outskirts of Northampton – a large industrial town in the heart of England, famed more for it’s shoe industry than it’s haute couture. This was not part of my master plan. Where do I go from here?

The birth of How To Cut It
THE ORIGINS OF WHY IT ALL BEGUN

In a era long before Google and social media there was not a lot of advice out there that purely focused on career opportunities in the hairdressing and barbering industry outside that of the big cities. Feeling lost and in the wilderness I needed to know more on the opportunities and pathways that were out there. I wanted career advice that related to my personal goals. I craved to hear the stories from my hairdressing icons on how they got to where they did. Quite simply, I needed a one-stop resource guide to help direct me and my fledgling hairdressing career, keeping me both motivated and ambitious enough to stay in hairdressing…
