Today Im joined on the podcast by Johnny Baba, founder and owner of the Barber Barber UK  brand of shops and product range. Never afraid to share his open and honest thoughts about the industry is why I love inviting Johnny onto the show. He has been on the show a couple of times before.

If you know anything about Johnny, you’ll know he is deservedly regarded as one the best barbers in the world. You will also know that he is massively passionate and protective of the barbering industry at large. But with passion comes strong opinions. Something we get to hear today as Johnny explains his beliefs on gender neutral hair.  It’s big hitting and at times, controversial!

I’m sure this conversation will evoke many emotions from you all, but regardless, it’s something Johnny truly believes in. You will hear him openly share the reasons why his Barber Barber shops refuse to cut women’s hair. Some of you may agree and some of you will disagree strongly with what he says. I’ll let you decide on this one.

Whilst we have Johnny on the show, I also had to ask about his brand new Barber Barber product range that he has launched since last spoke back in 2019. Let’s find who are these products for, what they do and why do we need another rage of products on the market.

Johnny’s podcast is prime listening waiting for your attention. I can’t wait to dive in, so let’s go to it Howtocutter’s.

Today’s Guest

At the age of 23, Johnny got the keys to his first store above a chip-shop in Castletroy, on the outskirts of Limerick, Ireland and quickly established it’s reputation as a purveyor of the finest gentlemen’s haircuts. Still thirsty for knowledge Johnny studied tirelessly after work each evening experimenting with different techniques looking for ways to challenge the status quo. Johnny wanted a haircut to not feel like a chore but to be something people would look forward to once a month. After speaking to his long term friend and customer- UK based property developer Morgan Leahy- Jonny made the decision to sell the business and start afresh by bringing his unique twist to Barbershop culture to the United Kingdom. On the 12th November 2013 Barber Barber UK opened it’s doors in the heart of Manchester city centre. From here the brand has exploded becoming known as the premier destination for scoundrels and gentleman alike, in every major city in the United Kingdom.
