The hair industry is facing a crisis!

It’s regularly being said that there’s no young people coming into hairdressing. The passion has gone out of young hairdressers. Salons are not keeping on to their staff. But what are we doing to solving this big problem? In this episode, we’re talking once more with The Fantastic Hairdresser co-founder, Alan Austin-Smith, on how we need to rethink the way we are marketing our industry message. In doing just that, Alan is confident it will play a big part in engaging the attention of a new generation of future hairdressers in a positive light.

If you’re experiencing some of those big industry problems outlined above, then there’s nothing you can do about it, right? Think again! Your salon business may be in a black hole right now, with you on the verge of calling it day. But stop! Alan’s on hand today to help you fight back and beat the hair industry crisis that’s threatening to take down your salon business and the hair industry at large.

In an ever-changing digital landscape, it’s never been harder to win the attention of a younger audience. Fighting against social media, on-demand tv and other creative industries away from hairdressing, Alan is about to uncover some of the best practices to help the hair industry and your salon business reach and engage with young audiences. His words of wisdom could be that eureka moment that we’ve all been waiting for. Hit the play button and hear why.

Today’s Guest

As co-founder of The Fantastic Hairdresser, Alan Austin-Smith is a man on a mission. He kicked-off his hairdressing career aged 16 at Vidal Sassoon, Bond Street. Before then moving onto L’Oreal to work his way through the ranks, quickly becoming the youngest departmental head they’d ever had – leading a team dedicated to helping salons improve their business skills.

Realising that there was a niche market here, he then left L’Oreal and started The Fantastic Hairdresser Company – dedicated to teaching salon owners and the team how to achieve ongoing success and turn their creativity into profit.

Fast forward 30 years, Alan has worked with over 150,000 hairdressers, with a client base that reads like a who’s who of the industry. This acclaimed author and inspirer knows how to bring the entertainment factor to education and is skilled at making you laugh while you learn!
